COMPOSITES EUROPE 2011: New exhibitor record, winning innovations

Ahlhorn | Stuttgart | 30.09.2011

25 per cent more exhibition space, 20 per cent growth in the number of exhibitors, including many global players in the fields of CRP and Engineering: The trade fair COMPOSITES EUROPE was held with over 350 international exhibitors from Europe, Asia and North America, at the Stuttgart Exhibition Centre from 28th to 30th September 2011.

The biggest trade fair for composite materials in Germany is all about new lightweight designs, latest materials trends and the latest manufacturing solutions for the composites industry. This year the focus of COMPOSITES EUROPE was particularly the issues of automation, processing and production applications.

With Toho Tenax, the SGL Group, Zoltek and Mitsubishi Rayon from Japan, four heavyweights have exhibited this year in the CRP-Segment of COMPOSITES EUROPE. Also again present was the Carbon Composites e.V., which brought to Stuttgart its member companies, including BMW, EADS and Premium Aerotec.

Also in the field of mechanical engineering and automation, KraussMaffei Technologies or Dieffenbacher, already a strong presence, were able to be acquired as exhibitors with new-tech companies McClean Anderson from the USA, MAKA Systems or Manz. In the field of research institutes in 2011 were the Fraunhofer Society for the Promotion of Applied Research, the Allianz Faserbasierte Werkstoffe Baden-Württemberg e.V and the cluster of New Materials of Bayern Innovativ GmbH, who were represented on joint stands at the COMPOSITES EUROPE.

COMPOSITES EUROPE 2011 was held for the sixth time. The fair is organized in cooperation with the European Composites Industry Association EuCIA, the International Journal of Reinforced Plastics and the AVK. The International Conference of the AVK, which was expected to attract 500 participants, took place from 26th to 27th September, once again formed the prelude to the exhibition.
