The High Performance Material Norton TH is suitable for a variety of applications in the electrical engineering field: the product can be used as slot insulations and wedges in traction motors, as an intermediate layer in transformers and for cable insulation. In addition, it is used in laminates of aramid paper and glass fabric, as well as backing material for adhesive tapes.

Norton TH® is a polyimide film 16011, abbreviation PI, whose main structural features are the imides. The polyamides are produced by condensation of polymerization and by a further chemical process of the film

Norton® 16 011 TH is a unique high-performance plastic that is unique in its combination with polymer film materials otherwise not found. This makes it ideal for a variety of applications in numerous industries. Norton® 16 011 TH has an excellent chemical resistance without any known organic solvents.

Norton® TH 16 011 is dimensionally stable, its shrinkage is less than 0.08%.

In addition, Norton® TH 16 011 has no melting point, is flame resistance and has the highest flammability rating of UL-94 V-0 (UL File: E231847) and begins to carbonize at 800 °C.

Thanks to the excellent properties of Norton® TH 16 011 is used at both extremely low temperatures down to -265° C and high temperatures above 400 ° C . Its temperature resistance is around +220 ° C, at which other organic materials are no longer functional.

By the default, Norton® TH 16 011 is used at temperatures from 20 – 220 ° C.

Norton® TH 16 011 is used as:

  • electric motor insulation,
  • cable and wire insulation,
  • in windings,
  • in magnetic coils,
  • in transformers,
  • in capacitors and
  • used in printed circuit boards.

The film Norton® TH 16 011 can be laminated, metalized, punched or coated with adhesive.
