Acrylic Foam Bond (AFB™) tape
Avery Dennison Acrylic Foam Bond (AFB™) tape is used for applications that require a high performance bond. Examples of such bonds are automotive bonding, attachment of medical device components, gaskets and many more. This acrylic foam tape can create comparable connections and replace mechanical fasteners such as screws, rivets, welding and other permanent connections.
Acrylic foam tapes are a high-strength, flexible, and resilient foam adhesive that enables permanent bonds between many substrates while improving product performance or simplifying assembly.
The Avery Dennison Acrylic Foam Bond (AFB™) line of products is designed for a wide variety of applications that require high bonding strength.
Avery Dennison AFB acrylic foam tapes are engineered to provide strong tack and adhesion to many low energy and high energy surfaces such as PC, ABS, PMMA and metal.
This family of acrylic foam tapes has great features:
- Foam tape with viscoelastic acrylic foam carrier
- closed cell structure
- Acrylate adhesive system
- Easily removable paper and foil covers
Benefits Acrylic Foam Bond (AFB™) tape
- High tack combined with good shear strength absorbs shock and distributes stress evenly
- Good resistance to moisture, UV radiation and high temperatures
- Uniform adhesive performance
- May eliminate the need for mechanical fasteners, drilling or grinding and associated cleaning in certain applications
- The optional polyethylene reinforcement offers good moisture stability and facilitates processing thanks to its high tear resistance.
Temperature ranges of Acrylic Foam Bond (AFB™) tape
Minimum application: 10°C (50°F)
Continuous operation: -40°C to 120°C (-40°F to 248°F)
Short term use: 160°C (320°F)
Typical applications of Acrylic Foam Bond (AFB™) tape
- Glass and window mounting (waterproof)
- Bonding of loudspeakers and microphones, assembly of TV screens and frames
- Lens bonding for tablets and smartphones
- Fastening door frames for design decoration, refrigerators and other household appliances
- Assembly and lamination of nameplates, signs and other components
- Assembly and lamination of elevator stiffeners
- Installation of cushions, upholstery or moldings, fixing of mirrors and cabinet doors in furniture
- Fastening and assembly of components in motor vehicles
Acrylic foam offers improved internal strength properties compared to PU and PE foams. In addition, AFB™ provides good foam relaxation and stress vibration and can be used to fill gaps.
