Aptiv slide types
Aptiv film types
APTIV TM -Foils are available in different types according to their specific property profiles. Depending on the type, there are different film thicknesses between 6 µm and 750 µm. The default width of the APTIV TM Foil is 610 mm, with the thinner foils in particular also being available in widths of up to 1500 mm. Depending on requirements, Victrex can also offer special widths of up to at least 45 mm. Widths under 45 mm are available from partner companies. The APTIV TM Foil finishes are standard matte/gloss or gloss/gloss.
APTIV TM 1000 series
APTIV TM 1000 foils are semi-crystalline foils available in thicknesses from 12,5 µm to 750 µm and in widths up to 1500 mm. They offer a unique combination of properties such as resistance to high temperatures, low basis weight, high mechanical strength under alternating loads, excellent resistance to radiation, hydrolysis and chemicals, electrical insulation, very good resistance to abrasion and wear, excellent barrier properties, high purity, low flammability without the use of flame retardants, low Toxicity of combustion products and low moisture absorption.
APTIV TM 2000 series
APTIV TM 2000 foils are amorphous foils available in thicknesses from 6 µm to 300 µm and in widths up to 1500 mm. The thin films of the 2000 series are suitable for applications where thermoformability in combination with optical transparency is required. For applications with continuous service temperatures above the glass transition temperature (Tg) of 143°C, where amorphous APTIV TM If films recrystallize, they lose transparency.
APTIV TM 1100 series
The APTIV TM 1100 films are mineral-reinforced, semi-crystalline PEEK films, with the
Degree of filling can be selected depending on application requirements. The films are currently available in thicknesses from 25 µm to 750 µm and a standard width of 610 mm. The film is used when a higher modulus of elasticity or a lower coefficient of thermal expansion is required.
APTIVTM 2100 series
The APTIV TM 2100 foils are mineral reinforced, amorphous foils, where the filler content can be selected depending on the application requirement. The foils are currently available in a thickness of 25 µm to 300 µm and a standard width of 610 mm. Films of this series offer advantages there,
where deep drawability is required in connection with a higher modulus of elasticity and a lower coefficient of thermal expansion. However, it is less suitable for applications with long-term service temperatures above the glass transition temperature (Tg) of 143°C, since the film recrystallizes here and thus shrinks uncontrollably.
post-processing processes
APTIVTM films can be post-processed using the following methods:
• Plasma surface activation for better compatibility with adhesives, varnishes, paints, etc.
• Metallization by metal deposition or lamination processes
• deep drawing
• Hot lamination (without glue) on other materials (e.g. metals)
These secondary processes allow designers and engineers to take advantage and
to use the properties of the APTIVTM film in different formats.
