COMPOSITES EUROPE 2011: new exhibitor record, award-winning innovations

25 percent more exhibition space, 20 percent more exhibitors, including numerous global players from the CFRP and mechanical engineering sectors: the COMPOSITES EUROPE trade fair with over 350 international exhibitors from Europe, Asia and North America took place at the Stuttgart exhibition center from 28 to 30. September 2011.
At the largest trade fair for composite materials in Germany, everything revolved around new lightweight construction concepts, material trends and state-of-the-art manufacturing solutions for the composites industry. This year, COMPOSITES EUROPE focused in particular on the topics of automation, manufacturing processes and series applications.
With Toho Tenax, the SGL Group, Zoltek and Mitsubishi Rayon from Japan, four heavyweights from the CFRP segment presented themselves at COMPOSITES EUROPE this year. Carbon Composites eV was also represented again and brought its member companies BMW, EADS and Premium Aerotec to Stuttgart.
In the mechanical engineering and automation sector, which was already well represented by KraussMaffei Technologies and Dieffenbacher, new high-tech companies such as McClean Anderson from the USA, MAKA Systems and Manz were won as exhibitors. In the field of research institutes, the Fraunhofer Society for the Promotion of Applied Research eV, the Alliance for Fiber-Based Materials Baden-Württemberg eV and the New Materials Cluster of Bayern Innovativ GmbH were represented with joint stands at COMPOSITES EUROPE.
COMPOSITES EUROPE took place in 2011 for the sixth time. The trade fair is organized in cooperation with the European industry association EuCIA, the international trade journal Reinforced Plastics and the AVK. The start of the trade fair was once again the AVK international conference from September 26th to 27th, to which around 500 participants are expected.
