Slitting is the finishing process of slitting wide rolls, master rolls or log rolls into narrower ribbons. the Dr. Dietrich Mueller GmbH can cut various flexible materials such as non-woven, paper, foils and laminates as well as pressure-sensitive tapes to custom widths using various methods and machines.

Parting off is a tailor-made solution that both enables the most efficient use of the material and offers the best solution for our customers.
Slitting involves spinning a roll of tape (or other material) on a stationary mandrel at high speed while a circular blade cuts (slices) the material to the specified width. This "cut to width" service is for customers who require rolls of tape or other materials of a specific width.
Reel winding and cutting machines
Unwinding the material and passing it through a slitting section followed by rewinding the material allows material to be cut to a close tolerance and to vary the length of the finished material. We own and operate several different rewinders that use the creasing, scissor or razor cutting method to process material. Score, Shear and Razor Blade edges have characteristics that make them suitable for specific types of material. The method you choose to process the material (Score, Razor or Shear) depends entirely on the material to be cut.
Razor blade cut
Razor cutting uses individual razor blades positioned at stationary intervals across the machine. The material is pulled through the stationary blades, resulting in precise, clean cuts. Razor cutting is best for films and thinner materials with a consistent thickness.
Squeeze Knife Cut
In crush-knife cutting, circular knives are used that are pressed against a steel cylinder or mandrel. The material is then pulled between the knives and the mandrel. Groove cutting is more suitable for materials with irregular thickness.

Scissor cutting uses two rotating blades that work like scissors. The material is cut at the intersection of the two sharp edges and is ideal for paper, foil and thicker materials.
