polyester film

Mylar is DuPont's brand of polyester film that is manufactured with a variety of finishes and thicknesses.
Polyester film can be printed with the laser printer.
Polyester film is available from us in thicknesses from 0,012 to 0,5 mm. In addition, we supply laminates made of polyester film, which then reach thicknesses of 0,8, 1,0, 1,2 and 1,5 mm.
Polyester foils can be cut with the laser. However, there may be traces of smoke on the cut edges.
The polyester film is largely insensitive to climatic influences. We recommend storing the foil within the shipping packaging until use. A dry, dust-free storage room with an ambient temperature below 30°C is advantageous. The effects of harmful influences such as moisture or direct sunlight due to long-term outdoor storage should be avoided. The film should be brought in the transport packaging to the processing area or a similarly air-conditioned room at least 24 hours before processing. It is recommended not to remove the film from the packaging until immediately before processing. After removal, transport using a steel spike prevents deformation or damage to the outer film layers. We are not aware of any restrictions on the storage life of polyester film. Nevertheless, we recommend processing the film within a year.
Polyester film is not resistant to: nitric acid 65% and 100%, nitrobenzene, phenol, ammonium hydroxide and sodium hydroxide
According to DIN 53372, polyester film has a cold resistance of -196°C.
Polyester film is a widely used electrical insulating material.

PEN film

PEN film was originally developed for higher quality flexible printed circuits and is now often used as an aroma barrier in PET plastic bottles. In the electrical industry, PEN (polyether naphthalate) is particularly characterized by a higher temperature resistance than polyester (155°C permanent temperature instead of 130°C).
Teonex® is also superior to classic polyester films (Mylar®, Hostaphan®) in aging tests under difficult conditions (dirt, moisture), as it is more hydrolytically stable and diffusion-tight.
Polyester films and PEN films do not differ in terms of processing.
