Incoming orders in the German electronics industry rose by 2021 percent in May 49,1 compared to the same month last year.

In May of this year, 34,0 percent more new orders were received from Germany than a year ago. Foreign orders rose almost twice as fast, namely by 62,9 percent. Orders from the euro zone rose by 64,2 percent and those from third countries by 62,2 percent.

In the first five months of 2021 as a whole, orders exceeded the corresponding prior-year figure by 27,9 percent. Domestic and foreign customers ordered 23,7 and 31,3 percent more than in the same period last year. Orders from the euro area rose by 30,2 percent from January to May, orders from countries outside the common currency area by 31,9 percent.
The real, i.e. price-adjusted, production of the German electronics industry rose by 2021 percent in May 22,5 compared to the previous year.
Cumulatively from January to May 2021, the industry's total production increased by 10,7 percent compared to the same period last year.

Domestic sales in the electrical industry in May 2021 were 15,4 billion euros, 24,0 percent above the previous year's value. Domestic sales rose by 21,5 percent to 7,2 billion euros. Euro. At the same time, foreign sales improved by 26,1 percent to 8,2 billion euros. The business volume with partners from the euro zone amounted to 3,0 billion euros (+ 30,7 percent). Sales to non-EU countries amounted to 5,2 billion euros (+ 23,4 percent) in May.

In the entire period from January to May of this year, industry sales rose by a total of 11,3 percent to EUR 79,2 billion compared to the previous year. Sales in Germany and abroad grew by 9,6 percent to 36,7 billion euros. euros or 12,7 percent to 42,5 billion euros. Sales in business with customers in the euro area amounted to 15,5 billion euros (+ 13,5 percent) in the first five months. Sales to non-EU countries amounted to 27,0 billion euros (+ 12,2 percent).

Business climate and export expectations continue to improve

The business climate in the German electronics industry improved again in June 2021. Export expectations also picked up again in June: the balance of companies expecting higher or lower exports in the next three months climbed four percentage points to plus 37 points.
