Polished Lexan® films offer 86% up to 92% translucency in all thicknesses from 0.175 mm up to 2.0 mm. Because of this they are well-qualified for LED-/LCD- displays and many more, preferable back printed applications like control panel convers at house-, hi-fi- and video devices as well as central round instruments in motor vehicles.

Customised coloured modulations are available from a certain minimum order quantity on.

Both-sided polished Lexan® films can be coined or structured selectively by screen printing to reach attractive surface effects. Screen printing can also improve the scratch resistance of the surface. The standard qualities are especially made for the printing with common solvents and UV hardening colours.

Structured qualities

Structured Lexan® films offer a range of different applications. Front-sided structured films minimize the reflection and contribute to the controlled light scatter (Diffusion). They are easy to process, coinable and are especially qualified for the front displays of lighted note- and warning signals with a sleep mode. Small scratches are not noticed on the structured side.

The range of typical applications includes various automotive central round instruments and audio-/video-remote controls as well as identification plates for machines and control panel covers for heating-, ventilation-, climate and office devices.

Lexan® polycarbonate films are available in various structure combinations which are modulated for specific application areas and requirements.

Main features of these structures are:

  • Excellent scratch resistance
  • Qualification for numerous LED-displays
  • Low gloss level

Flame resistant qualities

The family of the flame resistant (FR) Lexan® polycarbonate films is available UL94 certificated* and with different surface structures. These films fulfil increased fire protection requirements in the electro-technics and electronic.

High-performance qualities

Chemicals- and abrasion-resistant models
Lexan® high-performance films (HP) offer a high chemical- and abrasion resistance, they are ideal for numerous applications like flat membrane switchers, low-reflection computer screens and displays of audio/video devices, washing machines and microwave ovens. They are available in two model series: HP H for back-sided printing and highest abrasion resistance; and HP S for both-sided printing with UV hardening colours on the covered side.
Both series are available in stepped gloss levels to facilitate the selection for different applications.

Chemical-, abrasion- and UV-resistant models
Weather-resistant Lexan® HP-films have a special UV-stable covering for the permanent protection (naturally weathered applications) like it is needed for outdoor applications, warning signals for garden devices, lighted outdoor displays and graphic displays in the boat building.

Valox® film

Valox® FR 1-film for electrical insulations fulfils the requirements of UL94 classification VTM-0* for wall thicknesses ≥ 0.125 mm and medium heat resistance. As a thermoplastic polyester film with excellent dielectric strength and simple processability, Valox® FR1 is used for a wide range of electrotechnical and electronical applications.

Ultem® film

Ultem® 1000 is a thermoplastic high-performance film made of polyetherimide. It combines high heat resistance, low humidity absorption and good dielectric properties and many applications of the electro-technics and electronic industry.

  • Internal insulating against high-voltage
  • High-heat resistant adhesive tapes
  • Insulations at engines and guide vane
  • Transformer windings
  • Layer- and phase insulations

Ultem® 1000 is warm-formable and can be heat-sealed on numerous metals and thermoplastics.

Surface structures

Nearly defect-free; excellent printability by having high colour fidelity and good optical properties; especially qualified for LED/LCD displays; ideal surface for numerous selectively added screen printing structures.

Fine matt:
Good printability, not as smooth as polished qualities.

Light scattering; covers most of the filaments and can prevent “hot spots” in backlighted applications; preferred surface for defunct font graphic (displays in the sleep mode); less surface reflection and gloss.

Covers the most scratches, finger prints and dust on highly-stressed surfaces; acts also light scattering at applications with windows and backlight.

Ideal for many applications with extra wear-resistant surface; abrasion-resistant at steady good appearance.


Lexan® 8010 and other polished Lexan® film products are available in two different coverings: Stick, a self-adhesive material as protection against rough operation during processing and delivery; and Cling, a static adherent material as protection which can be drawn especially easy. The covering is available in different combinations, so it can be customised for the required application. There is no covering available for structured films.
