Products

polished Lexan® Films offer 86% to 92% light transmission in all wall thicknesses from 0,175 to 2,0 mm. This makes them ideal for LED/LCD displays and many other, preferably back-printed applications, such as control panels on household, hi-fi and video devices, as well as round instruments in motor vehicles.

Customized tinted settings are also available from a certain minimum order quantity.

Lexan® sheeting, polished on both sides, can be embossed or selectively screen printed to create attractive surface effects. Screen printing can also improve the scratch resistance of the surface. The standard qualities are specially designed for printing with common solvent and UV-curing inks.

Structured qualities

Textured Lexan® Foils offer a number of different applications. Structured on the front, they minimize reflection and contribute to controlled light scattering (diffusion). They are easy to process, embossable and are particularly suitable for the "front" displays of illuminated information and warning displays with sleep mode. Smaller scratches are hardly noticeable on the structured side.

The bandwidth of typical applications ranges from various round car instruments and audio/video remote controls to nameplates for machines and control panels for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and office equipment.

Lexan® Polycarbonate films are available in several structure combinations, which are tailored to specific areas of use and requirements. Main features of these structures are:

• excellent scratch resistance

• Suitability for numerous LED displays

• low gloss levels

Flame retardant qualities

The family of flame retardant (FR) Lexan® Polycarbonate film is UL94 certified* and available with different surface structures. These films meet increased fire protection requirements for applications in electrical engineering and electronics.

UL File/Card: E61257(R)USA/E103380(R)NDL

* Ratings under this standard should not be construed as a hazard index for this or any other material in an actual fire.

Application examples:

• Isolation of power supplies
• Isolation of storage drives
• Insulation of busbars
• Isolation from TV and other screens
• Isolation of PC Cards
• Isolation of office machines
• Laminated insulating and shielding foils

high performance qualities

Chemical and abrasion resistant grades

Lexan® High Performance (HP) films offer very high chemical and abrasion resistance, ideal for a variety of applications such as flat membrane switches, anti-reflective computer screens and display windows of audio/video equipment, washing machines and microwave ovens.

They are available in two series: HP H for reverse printing only and maximum abrasion resistance; and HP S for double-sided printing,
with UV-curing inks on the coated side. Both series are available in graded gloss levels to make it easier to choose the right one for the application.

Chemical, abrasion and UV resistant grades

Weather-resistant Lexan® HP films have a special UV-stable coating for long-term protection (exposed to the elements), as with
Outdoor applications Garden equipment warning displays, outdoor illuminated displays and boat building graphic displays.

Valox® film

valox® FR1 film for electrical insulation meets the requirements of UL94 classification VTM-0* with wall thicknesses ≥ 0,125 mm and medium heat resistance. As a thermoplastic polyester film with excellent
Dielectric strength and ease of processing is Valox® FR1 used for a wide range of electrotechnical and electronic applications.

• Isolation of storage drives
• Insulation of busbars
• Isolation of keyboards
• Isolation from TV and other screens

Surface structures

Polished:

Almost free of defects; excellent printability with high color fidelity and good optical properties; particularly suitable for LED/LCD displays; ideal surface for numerous selectively applied screen printing structures.

fine matt:

Good printability; not as smooth as the polished grades.

Frosted:

light diffusing; hides most filaments and can prevent "hot spots" in backlit applications; preferred surface for dead front graphics (displays with sleep mode); less surface reflection and gloss.

Velvet:

Hides most scratches, fingerprints and dust on heavily used surfaces; also diffuses light in windowed and backlit applications.

Suede:

Ideal for a variety of applications with a particularly wear-resistant surface; abrasion resistant with lasting good looks.

laminations

Lexan® 8010 and other polished Lexan® Foil products are available with two different liners: Stick, a self-adhesive material to protect against rough handling during processing and shipping; and cling,
a static cling material that is particularly easy to peel off. The lamination is available in several combinations and can thus
requirements are adjusted. Lamination is not available for structured foils.
