Production of felt gliders
Felt gliders are a type of gliders made from felt. They are used to make furniture, machine tools and other items lighter and smoother. There are several steps followed in the manufacture of felt gliders:
- Choosing the Felt Material: Felt pads are made from natural or synthetic felt materials tailored to the application. Examples of natural felt materials are wool, sheep's wool, camel's wool and horsehair. Synthetic felt materials include polyester, nylon, polypropylene, and acrylic.
- Production of the felt: The felt is usually produced by washing, combing, kneading, pressing and drying. This process can also be chemically assisted to improve the density and strength of the felt.
- Cutting and Shaping the Felt: The felt is cut and shaped into the desired shape to create the gliders. This can be done by stamping, cutting, grinding or other processing techniques.
- Attachment of Glides: Glides are usually attached to the underside of the item on which they are to be used. This can be done by gluing, sewing or other attachment techniques.
- Testing and quality control: Before the gliders are packed and shipped, they are tested for quality and performance.
The production of felt gliders usually requires a high level of expertise and experience to ensure consistently high quality and performance.
