Presspan is a tried-and-tested surface insulation material based on cellulose for insulation class A.

Properties of pressboard

Depending on the type of cellulose, fiber processing and machine settings, different types of pressboard with very special properties can be offered.

The nature and properties of press chips are standardized in DIN 7733 and IEC 60641.

In addition to the high dielectric strength and good impregnation properties with transformer oil, press chips do not have a melting point. Therefore, brief, high thermal loads (e.g. a few seconds at 350 °C) can be tolerated.

Processing of pressboard

Pressed chips can be punched, folded, cut and partially deformed and laminated with various foils.

Pressboard stampings

Pressboard can be further processed with all common stamping processes to form stamped parts and molded parts for insulation purposes.

Pressboard adhesive tapes

Pressboard can be coated with various adhesive systems in order to then use it as an adhesive tape. Adhesive punched parts can then also be delivered on a roll.

the dr Dietrich Müller GmbH also supplies press chips with a diamond-shaped resin coating. After curing, the partial resin coating leads to partial adhesion of the electrical conductors to the layer insulation. Air and moisture can be extracted from the transformer in a short time through the resulting channels and liquid insulation can be filled in.

Corrugated chipboard with different geometries as well as strip grids and strip carpets are also used in production to form cooling channels. Molded parts made of pressboard can be supplied as barriers at the coil ends of power transformers.

Pressboard is a very strong, fine cardboard made from high-quality raw materials with a glossy, smooth surface.
