Areas of application for hard fabric pipes

Web-wound round tubes made of hard fabric are mainly used as a construction material in mechanical engineering but also in the electrical industry.

They are used as bolt insulation in transformer construction, as brush holders in electric motor construction and as bearings in mechanical engineering.

Due to the fabric reinforcement in combination with phenolic resin, this material can be subjected to very high loads and is used in many areas as a substitute for metallic materials.

Structure of the hard tissue tubes

Round tubes made of hard fabric consist of cotton fabric webs impregnated with phenolic resin. They are wound in parallel on winding machines, with the resin bonding the webs together under the influence of pressure and heat. During the subsequent hardening process, the layers change into an insoluble state. The finished tubes are then ground and machined according to customer requirements. If desired, these can also be painted.
