PVDF polyvinylidene fluoride films
Tecfilm® is a registered trademark of Dr. Dietrich Mueller GmbH
Film Tecfilm PVDF TC 0130
Polyvinylidene fluoride or PVDF is a highly reactive thermoplastic fluoropolymer, a polymer of vinylidene fluoride.
PVDF is a special plastic from the fluoropolymer family.
A semi-crystalline, semi-opaque and white engineering thermoplastic that is melt processable and very expensive. It has good temperature and general chemical resistance (although neither are as good as PTFE) and good abrasion and radiation resistance. It is slightly stiffer and stronger than most (melt-processable) fluoropolymers, but has high dielectric losses.
It has a highly dipolar molecule, so when the right morphology is achieved, valuable piezoelectric and pyroelectric properties result.
In practice, both uniaxial and biaxial mechanical orientations are used, resulting in a different balance of piezo/pyroelectric properties after poling.
It is commonly used in applications requiring the highest purity, strength and resistance to solvents, acids, bases and heat and low smoke formation in the event of fire. Compared to other fluoropolymers, it has an easier melting process due to its relatively low melting point.
Main advantages of PVDF film Tecfilm PVDF TC 00130
- Excellent mechanical strength
- Good resistance to chemicals
- Continuous operating temperatures up to 150°C
- Smooth and self-cleaning surface
- Unsurpassed durability without rotting
- Resistance to UV and nuclear radiation
- Excellent flame retardancy
- low smoke formation in case of fire
- Good impermeability
- Good punchability
Main application areas of PVDF film
Our PVDF foil is primarily used as a stamped part in the function of a seal.
Delivery forms of the PVDF film
The PVDF film is supplied as a cut roll, as a blank and as a die-cut part. Spirally wound pipes are also made from the foil.
