Renaming to Mylar Specialty Films: A new name for a traditional brand
DuPont Teijin Films: renamed Mylar Specialty Films
Mylar Specialty Films, a renowned polyester film manufacturer, recently announced its global rebranding initiative. This initiative includes renaming the company from “DuPont Teijin Films” to “Mylar Specialty Films”. The name change will affect all global operations and offices, including locations in the US, Europe and Asia. The new company name is intended to reflect the rich heritage of the “Mylar“, which was launched in the 1950s as a biaxially oriented PET film.
"We are proud to have been manufacturing 'Mylar' polyester films for 70 years. The name change is a tribute to our history and a sign of our continued commitment to innovation and market leadership," said Steve Gendreau, CEO of Mylar Specialty Films.
Continuity and innovation
Although the company name has changed, ownership remains the same. Mylar Specialty Films will remain a joint venture between Celanese and Teijin. The company will continue to market its well-known “Melinex” PET, “Hongji” PET and “Kaladex” PEN product lines alongside “Mylar” PET films. This continuity in product lines ensures that customers will continue to have access to the proven quality and variety of polyester films.
Another major joint venture with FSPG Hi-Tech Co. in China will also be renamed in the near future, but will remain in operation under the name DuPont Hongji Films for now, reflecting the company's commitment to unify and strengthen its brand globally.
