Response to conflict minerals
Ahlhorn | 19.08.2013/XNUMX/XNUMX
In recent years, armed rebels have illegally mined and smuggled ore in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) or neighboring countries to fund their insurgent activities.
These actions not only serve to escalate the conflict, but also constitute human rights violations in the form of forced labor and abuse of the local population.
In July 2010, the US Congress passed a financial market reform bill to stop the flow of money to these armed groups.
On August 22, 2012, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) issued a directive requiring US-listed companies to disclose how they extract and use conflict minerals for the extraction of tantalum, tin, tungsten and gold from rebel-controlled mines and regions.
As a manufacturer of electrical insulation materials, heat transfer products, technical foils and seals, Dr. Dietrich Müller GmbH does not support the illegal activities and human rights abuses mentioned above, although metals are used only to a very small extent in the materials we use.
We attach great importance to communication about such “conflict raw materials” in our supply chain.
We ask our suppliers for relevant information and exchange this information with our customers upon request.
