Bern is the Mecca of public transport
(Ahlhorn, 05.09.2011) During the four days of meetings of 6 - 9 September 2011 in the halls of the AG BERN EXPO and the new tram depot BERNMOBIL, specialists from across Europe come to exhibit "suissetraffic".
Around 170 companies on 20,000 square meters of floor space are showing new products and introducing their services. On the opening symposium on Tuesday morning, Federal Councilor Doris Leuthard on "Mobility as a prerequisite of the growth policy" will speak.
Traveling from Brussels, for the opening of "suissetraffic" are the Executive Director of the European Railway Agency, Marcel Verslype and the EU Parliament member Michael Cramer, transport policy spokesman of the Greens.
They will comment specifically on the theme "Traffic is moved: Mobility tomorrow?". On the Discussion panel is Senate Peter Bieri, Bernard Guillemon (CEO of BLS AG), Alex Naef (CEO of Carrosserie Hess) and Nils Planzer (CEO of Planzer Transport AG) and their points of view will critically question the traffic developments. Andreas Meyer, CEO of SBB AG is expected to draw the conclusion, as well as to formulate measures, demands and wishes of the future development of mobility.
SWISSRAIL as the driving force
Largest exhibitor at the "suissetraffic" is the industry organisation SWISSRAIL Industry Association, with over fifty members on more than one thousand square metres, shows what Swiss firms in innovation and workmanship are capable of: "There is no train in the world, that does not roll without multiple components of our country," maintains SWISSRAIL Director Michaela Stöckli confidently. The Bern town's population is excited about the automatic lubrication system for the extremely accurate and precise, mobile railhead lubrication system from Railtex Systems of Hergiswil. It reduces the "screech-curve" and significantly reduces wear on the axles and the rail head. While only a model, but it is the first time, the new BLS double-composition of Stadler Rail for the S-Bahn Bern can be seen. The Thuner company Enotrac presented the mobile data collection of the infrastructure on a portable tablet PC. A special facet of the rail industry, visitors can experience on the simulator at the CBB stand.
Highlights of BERNMOBIL
With a world premiere waiting BERNMOBIL and AEG MIS from Ulm in new tram depot on the Bolligenstrasse on: Public Transport Communication 3.0, this means the new passenger information and new operational control system, the cross-company and intermodal unites all communication needs. Decisive improvements on the existing stand-alone solutions are ensuring connections among the various transport operators, networking with the rail industry and dynamic real-time information to customers. A shuttle bus takes visitors from Hall 2.0 to the Tram Depot, which is waiting along with other exhibitors and a Siemens Combino XL-Tram in the maintenance area for interested exhibition visitors.
