PET films characterise by their high tensile strength, chemical, mechanical and thermal stability as well as transparency. They are a good electrical insulator and have low moisture absorption (0.3%) as well as a dielectric strength of about 133V/µm.

Standard thicknesses are:
23 µm
36 µm
50 µm
100 µm
150 µm
190 µm
250 µm
300 µm
350 µm
500 µm

It is also possible to adhere several layers of a material to a laminate to reach greater thicknesses.

Most famous brands are Mylar A of Dupont as well as Hostaphan of Mitsubishi.
