Producing LED lights in optimal quality

Düsseldorf | 12.04.2013

The 2nd VDI conference “Service life and quality assurance in LED lighting” on 26 and 27 June 2013 in Düsseldorf will discuss the entire value chain from package to luminaire.
The conference will start with presentations on lifetime assessment and aging of Mid-Power LEDs, HP LEDs according to LM80. Experts will present how they determine and model the degradation behavior of LEDs. Speakers from industry and research – including Nichia, Osram, Philips as well as TU Darmstadt and LED Institute Dr. Slabke – will speak in a panel discussion about their experiences with LED packages and explain how realistic life cycle specifications are.

Change in the lighting industry

The lighting industry is undergoing technological change. The European lighting manufacturers are still able to hold their own against the competition with quality products. But Asian giants are already on the advance. What options are there for ensuring optimum product quality?  These and other questions will be discussed by experts at the 2nd VDI conference “Service life and quality assurance in LED lighting” on 26 and 27 June 2013 in Düsseldorf. Organizer is the VDI Wissensforum.

Various technical lectures

The conference will start with presentations on lifetime assessment and aging of Mid-Power LEDs, HP-Ln LEDs, and HP-Ln LED determination and modeling. Speakers from industry and research – including Nichia, Osram, Philips as well as TU Darmstadt and LED Institute Dr. Slabke – will speak in a panel discussion about their experiences with LED packages and explain how realistic life expectancy figures are.

Other interesting presentations will focus on thermal management and the influence of the assembly process on the service life of LEDs. Experts from BAG and Tridonic will present the quality of electronic ballasts and the requirements of LED power supplies. One block of topics at the conference will deal with the analysis of LED failures, fault mechanisms and risks as well as lifetime measurements of LED systems. In addition, representatives from the lighting industry will talk about the quality and reliability of LED luminaires.

Special day on OLED

A special day on OLEDs in lighting will be held at the conference presentation on June 25, 2013. Here, experts will discuss the current status of OLED technology and OLED applications in general lighting, automotive and aviation, as well as funding opportunities and development trends.

Polycarbonate diffuser films

For LED applications Dr. Dietrich Müller GmbH supplies diffuser films made of Makrofol, lexan films, polyester films and other films.

Here, blanks and punched parts are produced, which can also be manufactured with partial adhesive.
