NOMEX®

NOMEX® is a synthetic aromatic polyamide polymer (aramid), which is characterized by a particularly stable molecular structure.

This gives rise to the excellent dielectric, thermal, chemical, and mechanical properties of NOMEX® and opens up NOMEX® Products have a wide range of application areas.

NOMEX® Papers and pressboards have been in use in transformers, motors, generators, and other electrical devices for more than 35 years and prove their overload capacity and high reliability even under extreme operating conditions.

NOMEX® Paper is made from two forms of the aramid polymer, the fibroids (as binding particles) and the flakes in a paper production process (type 411). In a second step, a high-temperature calendering process is used to densify and cross-link the NOMEX® Papers (types 410, 414, E56, 418).

Thermische Stabilität

Nomex is UL-approved (file number: E34739) for use in electrical machines at continuous operating temperatures of up to 220 ° C, whereby the properties remain almost unchanged even in continuous operation (UL 546 B).

For short periods (over hours), machines insulated with Nomex can also be operated at significantly higher temperatures.

Schwer entflammbar, selbst verlöschend

NOMEX® Aramid paper products do not melt and with an LOI value (Limited Oxygen Index) of over 20.8 at 220 ° C (the critical value for combustion in normal air), they do not support the combustion process (UL 94 VO).

High mechanical stability (tensile strength, rigidity, tear and tear strength, flexural stability)

Inherent dielectric strength: Nomex enables short-term loads of 18 to 40 kV / mm without further treatment with paints or resins

Chemical resistance: NOMEX® is exceptionally resistant to acids and alkalis and is compatible with all types of paints, adhesives, transformer fluids, lubricating oils, and coolants.

Low-temperature properties: Due to its unique polymer structure, NOMEX® is used in a wide variety of cryogenic applications.

Isolierrohre aus Aramidpapier

From Nomex® 410 we wrap pipes, which can then be used to insulate bolts or connections.

These insulating sleeves can be manufactured in a wide variety of diameters.
