Strong also in thermoplastics

Ahlhorn | 24.08.2012

Even though Dr. Dietrich Müller GmbH’s Composites manufacturing division focuses on the machining of thermoset materials, it also processes thermoplastic materials.

PA 46

red-brown
PA 46 is mainly used in the higher temperature range, where stiffness, tracking resistance, continuous heat resistance and fatigue strength of PA 6, PA 66, POM and PET are no longer sufficient. PA 46 is therefore suitable for high-quality technical applications in apparatus engineering, electrical engineering and the automotive industry.

PA 6

nat./sw.
Very tough, even in the cold. Hard. High damping capacity. Technical parts such as gear wheels, pinions, screws, nuts, bearings, seals, coupling parts, guide parts, pump parts, fittings, housings, bobbins etc.

PA 66

nat./sw.

The polyamide with high hardness, stiffness, abrasion resistance and dimensional stability in heat. Preferred polyamide for highly loaded and heat-stressed parts in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, vehicle and apparatus engineering.

PA 66 GF 30 30 % Glass fibres

black

These 30 % glass fiber reinforced polyamide grades have – while maintaining a very high wear resistance – higher strength, stiffness and dimensional stability than unreinforced PA 6 and PA 66. They can also be used at higher service temperatures.

PA 6 G

blue/nature/black

Thick-walled mouldings, semi-finished products with high piece weights. Casting of inserts (rollers, cores) and large moulded parts of all kinds.

PA 11

nature

Water fittings, bearings under water, seals, housings, fans, insulating parts, parts for textile machines and household appliances, gears, sliding pieces and guides. Very low water absorption.

PA 12

nature

Maintenance-free bearing and gear parts under water, insulating parts, seals, gear wheels, parts for pumps and household appliances Applications in the electrical sector, even slightly lower water absorption than PA 11.

PAI

nature

Used especially where high strength over a temperature range (-190°C…+260°C), high impact strength and very good electrical properties are required. Other characteristic features are good resistance to chemicals, flame retardancy and high heat resistance.

PBT

nature

The mechanical properties of PBT are not quite as favorable as those of semi-crystalline PET, but it is much easier to process.

PBT GF 30 30 % Glass fibers

PBT GF is a semi-crystalline structural thermoplastic reinforced with glass fibres, with very high rigidity and strength, with very good insulation properties and versatile application.

PC

transparent

Hard, stiff, very good impact properties in a wide temperature range (up to 100°C). High dimensional stability in heat, crystal clear with a slightly yellowish colour. Low water absorption, weather resistant, physiologically harmless.

PEEK

grey

Peek is a deep-crystalline, easily processable thermoplastic which is characterised by high tensile and bending strength, impact strength and consistently good electrical properties from 0°C-220°C, as well as favourable sliding and wear behaviour and low flammability.

PEEK BG carbon fibers,

black

The addition of carbon fibres, PTFE and graphite results in a material with higher mechanical strength, a low coefficient of sliding friction and improved abrasion resistance. Due to the excellent tribological properties of PEEK BG, this material is particularly suitable for plain bearing applications.

PE 1000

nat./green

Tough, flexible to stiff depending on crystallinity (density). Wax-like surface. Excellent dielectric properties. Good resistance to solvents, acids and alkalis. Physiologically harmless. Low water absorption, not aroma-tight. Versatile in use. Easy to process by all methods. Easy to cut, good colouring, flammable. The materials have excellent sliding properties, the high molecular PE 1000 can be used down to -260°C, abrasion is very low.

PEI

amber

A material which allows very high strength and high heat resistance and application at high temperatures. It is also characterised by consistently good electrical properties over a wide range of frequencies and temperatures, high dielectric strength, high flame retardance, high resistance to gamma rays and good machinability.

PET

nat./sw.

Linear, saturated polyesters are thermoplastics which are used where good dimensional stability, high creep rupture strength and good sliding and wear behaviour are required. Semi-crystalline PET possesses high hardness, rigidity, strength and toughness even at lower temperatures. In the amorphous state, hardness and rigidity are lower.

PI

brown

Extremely wide temperature application range, high oxidation resistance, UV-stable, low
