  • Techtextil: record number of exhibitors and increased internationality confirm growth market for technical textiles
  • Texprocess: consolidated position as leading international trade fair for advanced textile processing technologies

The international industry meeting places Techtextil (11 to 13 June 2013) and Texprocess (10 to 13 June 2013) in Frankfurt are starting with an outstanding number of registrations.

The two leading trade fairs welcome 1,648 exhibitors, an increase of 123 exhibitors compared to previous events (2011: 1,525). “Techtextil reports record numbers of exhibitors and exhibition space, while Texprocess has seen an increase in the number of international exhibitors and stable registration figures.

Overall, our textile trade fair duo at the Frankfurt exhibition venue offers the world’s biggest range of technical textiles, nonwovens and textile processing technologies”, says Detlef Braun, Member of the Board of Management of Messe Frankfurt GmbH. Influenced by the innovative strength of the two sectors, Techtextil and Texprocess will also be held with positive economic expectations. “The markets for technical textiles and textile processing remain growth-oriented. At 22 million tonnes, technical textiles now account for 27 percent of global textile production”, says Braun. “Sewing and garment technology, which is relevant for Texprocess, also benefits from this development – a market with a worldwide export volume of around 4.5 billion euros in 2012”.

Techtextil, the world’s leading trade fair for technical textiles and nonwovens, has set new records for the 15th edition. Three hall levels are completely booked out – an unprecedented success for the event. From 11 to 13 June 2013, 1,322 exhibitors from 48 countries (2011: 1,199 exhibitors from 50 countries) will present themselves at the fair and exhibition centre, a growth rate of ten percent.

“The international technical-textile industry relies on Techtextil. No other fair in the world offers such a wide range of products for this market with worldwide growth rates of up to five percent annually,” says Braun. “We are seeing an increase in exhibitors from all countries and regions, especially from Denmark, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Poland, the Czech Republic, Turkey and the USA”. At the same time, the proportion of international exhibitors rose to around 67 percent (2011: 65 percent). The number of joint stands also rose to 13 nations (2011: 11 countries).

The great response to Techtextil shows that technical textiles, nonwovens and related textile technology are being used in more and more industries. With twelve fields of application and eleven product groups, Techtextil illustrates the variety of applications and products. These include construction, architecture and interior design (Buildtech, Hometech), sportswear and protective clothing (Sporttech, Protech), industrial textiles (Indutech), medical technology (Medtech) and automotive and aviation (Mobiltech). The five biggest application areas in terms of exhibitor entries reflect the current growth markets of the technical textiles sector. “For Indutech, Mobiltech, Buildtech, Hometech and Protech we currently see a particularly high demand for textiles worldwide,” says Braun.

Texprocess consolidates position as leading international trade fair for advanced textile processing technologies

At Texprocess, 326 companies from 37 countries (2011: 326 exhibitors from 40 countries) will present their high-tech solutions on four hall levels at Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre from 10 to 13 June. New exhibitors from all areas of textile processing have confirmed their participation. In addition, the internationality of exhibitors has increased compared to 2011 and now stands at 65 percent (2011: 63 percent). Besides Germany, the most important exhibitor nations are Italy, China, USA, Taiwan, Poland, Turkey, Great Britain, South Korea, Switzerland and Japan. “The market response to Texprocess has again been very good. Our concept with its parallelism to Techtextil, its innovative character, its international character and the unique product range and depth has more than paid off”, says Braun.

The Source it procurement platform completes the range of products and services to be seen at Texprocess. Here, the fashion industry can find out about manufacturing countries and production companies. One focus of this year’s Source it will be on Eastern Europe and North Africa: “This is our response to the trend that parts of the textile processing and garment manufacturing sector are moving closer to the end consumer markets again”, adds Braun.
