High flexibility even in crisis situations

With the production of visors and respiratory masks, Dr. Dietrich Müller GmbH a high degree of flexibility in the pandemic.

In addition to visors, sufficient respiratory mask production is necessary in order to achieve protective measures for the population, medical staff, nursing staff, rescue services, etc. Sufficient availability of masks and the obligation to wear masks at an early stage are suitable measures to prevent the rapid spread of pathogens such as COVID-19.

The mucous membranes of the eyes, nose and mouth are potential entry points for pathogens that are transmitted by droplet infection into the body. The use of respirators can reduce the likelihood of close contact droplet infection by preventing liquid particles from reaching other people's mucous membranes and airways when they breathe, speak, sneeze, or cough. In addition, respirators protect staff from splashes of bodily secretions, contaminated liquids, and touching their mouths and noses with contaminated hands.

Filter half masks consist of several layers of fleece, elastic bands and a malleable nose piece. The basic material for the masks are plastic granules, which are melted with so-called melt-blow systems. By varying process parameters such as material, temperature, pressure, binding agent, water and mechanical disruptive bodies, different nonwovens can be produced and optimized for the respective application. Various nonwovens are used to manufacture FFP2 masks and mouth-nose protection masks for operations (MNS OP). The mask structure for MNS OP consists mainly of three layers. The two outer layers are made of spunbond and are identical. The inner layer consists of meltblown fleece. To increase safety, additional layers of meltblown fleece are incorporated into FFP2 masks.

the dr Dietrich Müller GmbH has a lot of experience in the processing of nonwovens, so that production could be expanded to include the manufacture of respiratory masks in a short time.

This flexibility is also reflected in the production of electrical insulation materials, thermally conductive products, gaskets and technical foils. The company's product portfolio includes flexible electrical insulation materials, prepregs, 3D printing, coated fabrics, adhesive tapes, laminates and profiles, thermally conductive products, technical foils, sealing materials, mica products and other product groups.
