Synthetic resin plywood, also known as phenolic resin plywood, is a material commonly used in the transformer industry. It consists of wood fibers that are impregnated with phenolic resin under pressure and high temperatures. This process ensures that the material is very stable and resistant to moisture, chemicals and high temperatures.

One of the most important advantages of synthetic resin lumber is its excellent electrical insulation. It is often used in transformers to insulate the electrical conductors from the magnetic cores, improving the performance and efficiency of the transformer. It also has good heat resistance and can withstand high temperatures, making it ideal for use in transformers that operate in harsh environments.

Resin plywood is also lightweight and easy to work with. It can be made in a variety of shapes and sizes and is easy to cut, drill and shape. This allows it to be integrated into a wide variety of transformer designs and allows for more flexible transformer design.

Another advantage of synthetic resin lumber is its environmental friendliness. It consists mainly of natural raw materials and is recyclable, making it a sustainable choice for the transformer industry.

Overall, resin-pressed wood is an important material in the transformer industry because of its excellent electrical insulation, heat resistance, lightness and environmental friendliness.

Rigidiso-Trafo-Wood is made from high-quality impregnated beech veneers with a veneer thickness of 0,5 to 1,5 mm and then further processed on our CNC machining centers.

Rigidiso transformer wood (also KP wood or synthetic resin pressed wood)

Rigidiso transformer wood (also KP wood or synthetic resin pressed wood) is made from high-quality impregnated beech veneers with a veneer thickness of 0,5 to 1,5 mm. Depending on the requirements, the layer structure of the transformer wood (longitudinal and transverse layers) can be selected with different densities up to highly compressed quality with a density of up to 1,4 kg/dm3.

These transformer woods made of synthetic resin plywood can be used in the temperature range from +90 to -196°C without loss of compressive strength. Transformer wood has a low specific weight.

Applications of Transformer Wood

The transformer wood is used in electrical applications (especially in transformer construction) in the low-voltage range and transformer wood has good emergency running properties.

Rigidiso transformer wood (also KP wood or synthetic resin pressed wood) is widely used in the manufacture of oil-immersed transformers (both distribution and power transformers). We deliver the following parts:

  • complete press bar
  • pressure rings and shield rings
  • coil pressing elements
  • printing blocks
  • step blocks
  • The round rod
  • threaded rods
  • Nuts

For other industrial sectors we manufacture the following parts:

  • type signs
  • tank storage blocks
  • Transmission
  • rollers and transport rollers

We manufacture finished parts from Rigidiso transformer wood (also KP wood or synthetic resin compressed wood) on our CNC machining centers according to customer drawings or samples.
